Why now
Under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (EU) 2024/1781, large companies may not destroy unsold apparel, clothing accessories and footwear in the EU from 19 July 2026. The Commission plans ecodesign requirements and a digital product passport for textiles in 2027.
